The Centre for Contemporary Art is situated in the reconstructed 17 th century Baroque Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw. Since 1990 it has operated under a regular interdisciplinary program with a pernament collection, documentary archives, and the facilities for temporary exhibitions, concerts, lectures, and theater and video presentations. Yearly it hosts about 50 projects, half of which are by artists from abroad. One of the goals of the Centre is to include a wide range of contemporary art from Central and Eastern Europe.
The Castle has two guest rooms for visiting artists, critics, and scholars, and is currently developing the facilities to accommodate artists' residencies and work-spaces. People visit the castle not only because of exhibitions but also to use the video library and the book library, which are open to the public. Visitors will find the restaurant quite remarkable. Because of its design (sorry, no picture here - you have to see for yourself) and 'Qchnia Artystyczna' (Artistic Kitchen) which serves dishes such as 'Still life with herring'.
